Transit, services disrupted in Brampton as workers go on strike

Brampton says transit and different native companies are going through disruptions and delays after 1,200 municipal staff went on strike.

CUPE 831, a neighborhood unit of the Canadian Union of Public Workers, says staff walked off the job Thursday morning after coming into a authorized strike place at 12:01 a.m.

The union says it’s been attempting to barter a cope with town for near 9 months.

The town says transit companies are experiencing “significant disruptions” and riders are suggested to make different preparations.

It additionally says different metropolis departments, together with recreation, town clerk’s workplace and enforcement and bylaw companies may see lowered or delayed companies, however hearth and emergency companies are working as traditional.

The town says it’s dedicated to negotiating a good, multi-year settlement whereas making certain “fiscal responsibility” for its residents and aligning with different CUPE offers within the Better Toronto Space.
