Today, the Ontario government, through Infrastructure Ontario (IO), along with William Osler Health System (Osler), announced that they are moving forward with the next phase of the new Peel Memorial Hospital project – marking an important achievement in this initiative. IO and Osler have finalized a Development Phase Agreement (DPA) with Bird Design-Build Construction Inc., which will help push the project requirements forward, including design, scheduling, and pricing. This milestone comes after a transparent and competitive Request for Proposal process that kicked off in October 2024. The team from Bird Design-Build Construction Inc. includes: Applicant lead: Bird Design-Build Construction Inc.Design team: Cannon Design Ltd.

The initial construction for the new Peel Memorial Hospital started in March 2025, focusing on early tasks such as site access improvements. “We’re excited to be moving ahead with the Peel Memorial Hospital project, which will provide essential services closer to home, reduce travel for care needs, and support the health and well-being of our growing diverse community for generations,” said Dr. Frank Martino, President and CEO of William Osler Health System. “Today’s announcement is an important stride toward an exciting future for healthcare in our area.” Learn more about how Peel Memorial is transforming.
