Last month, the average cost of a one-bedroom rental in Brampton hit just below $2,000, while purpose-built rental prices remained among the lowest in Canada, as per a recent report.
The new National Rent Report from Rentals. ca and Urban Nation indicates that there was a 4 percent rise in the average price for one-bedroom rentals, bringing it to $1,986.
The average rent for two-bedroom units in Brampton also increased by 4.2 percent since January, reaching $2,302. In the report’s ranking of the 20 most expensive rental cities in Canada, Brampton placed No. 15.
Outside of Toronto, Pickering had the highest rental costs in Ontario at an average price of $2,633.
While there was an increase compared to January’s prices, they were down by 4.4 percent compared to February 2025 for both one-bedroom units (down 4.4 percent year-over-year) and two-bedroom apartments (down 2.8 percent year-over-year).

Brampton did rank lower on the scale when it comes to purpose-built rentals and condo apartments’ costs with an average price set at $2,228. It came in at No. 22 out of 25 on this list; only Waterloo ($2,188) and Barrie ($2,166) had lower averages within Ontario.
Brampton’s Housing Strategy and Action Plan approved by city council back in 2021 highlighted purpose-built rentals as one key area of focus along with an incentive framework aimed at promoting these types of housing developments.
