A 26-year-old man has lost his life after a shooting in Brampton, and another man has been taken into custody, according to police reports.
The incident occurred on Friday evening at a residence near Dartford Road and Balmoral Drive, as stated by Const. Tyler Bell-Morena from Peel Regional Police. Officers received calls about gunfire shortly after 5:30 p. m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a man from Brampton with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect was arrested and is thought to be the only one involved, Bell-Morena mentioned.
The accused man, who is 37 years old, knew the victim, Cst. Taylor Halfyard said during a news conference on Saturday. He emphasized that this event was an isolated case.
Bell-Morena had indicated that police believed there was a connection between the two men.
Someone inside the house made a 911 call, he added.
Bell-Morena advised local residents to expect a significant police presence throughout Friday night.
