Brampton Family Day on February 16, 2026: Openings and Closures

Long weekends are great, but not every place in Brampton will be open on Family Day, Feb. 16, 2026, during normal hours.

Here’s what you should know about what’s open and closed on the Family Day holiday Monday in Brampton.

Open:

Movie theatres. Shoppers Drug Mart locations. Some smaller grocery stores, like Rabba. Most convenience stores. A few restaurants (call ahead to confirm). Bramalea City Centre will operate from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m. Mount Chinguacousy tube hill is open from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. Certain Brampton Recreation Centres are available for drop-in swimming, skating and sports (call ahead or check online to confirm). Outdoor skating rinks. Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) with free admission. All essential services including Peel Regional Police, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations, and Security Services.

Closed:

LCBO stores. The Beer Store. Shoppers World. Most major grocery stores. All Brampton Library branches. Brampton Animal Shelter. Provincial Government offices. Banks. City Hall and some corporate facilities will be closed on Monday and will reopen for walk-in services on Tuesday.

Transit

Brampton Transit will run a modified holiday service schedule on Family Day. GO Transit will follow a Saturday schedule.

Garbage

Garbage pickup is cancelled across Brampton and the Region of Peel on Family Day. Waste scheduled for collection on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday instead.
