The advert didn’t present any extra info or context to the assertion and didn’t observe the date Crombie stated it. It’s attainable that the audio clip was taken from when she was the mayor of Mississauga.
As mayor, she was usually at odds with Brown.
Crombie didn’t reply to True North’s requests to remark.
Brown, a former Ontario PC chief, launched a press release on X condemning Crombie’s feedback.
“For the Ontario Liberal leader to say she doesn’t care about Brampton is outrageous and wrong,” Brown stated. “For someone seeking the highest office in Ontario, it’s appalling.”
In 2025 – when Canada and Ontario are below assault – it is important all of us pull collectively. It is important we help one another.

Brown lauded the scale of his metropolis, the third largest in Ontario, and the “good people” who reside there.
“Those people deserve to be recognized – not ignored. Not dismissed,” he stated.
“Bonnie Crombie, this is not the way someone who aspires to be Premier should be talking about her own people. I hope you will withdraw those comments now and apologize.”
Additionally value noting is that Brown’s mother-in-law, Silvia Gulatiari, is Ontario’s Conservative candidate for Mississauga East-Cooksville.
The social media feedback responding to the assault advert largely criticized the advert. Lots of its critics recognized themselves as conservatives.
“Never thought I’d have anything in common with Bonnie, but here we are,” one X consumer stated.
Jordan Freeman, one other X consumer, stated, “For the first time in a long time, I agreed with a Liberal on something.”
One other sarcastically questioned if the clip was meant to be an assault advert or an advert to make Crombie extra likeable.
“A three-second quote taken out of context? If that’s the best Doug Ford can do, he’s in trouble,” one other stated.
A lot of the ire for Brampton within the feedback to the advert lay in its rising crime charge and its notoriety as a vacation spot for people coming to Canada, through Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s mass immigration insurance policies.
