Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) report that a 22-year-old man from Brampton is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from an officer at nearly twice the speed limit while under the influence.
The event took place on Highway 410 southbound, just south of Queen Street, where police recorded the driver going 193 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. Officers say they determined the man was impaired during the stop.
Authorities confirmed that the driver is now dealing with 10 charges, which include offenses related to impaired driving and dangerous operation, along with six charges associated with stunt driving and speeding.
The man’s vehicle has been seized and his driver’s license has been suspended.
“Impaired driving [plus] extreme speed = a deadly combination. This reckless behaviour puts everyone at risk,” the police service said.
