The second victim in a crash involving a young driver in Brampton on Saturday wasn’t discovered until hours after the accident, according to Peel police, once both vehicles had been taken to the police impound lot.

The collision took place around 4:20 a. m. at Chinguacousy Road and Queen Street W., and Peel police Const. Tyler Bell-Morena mentioned that the “gruesome” finding of the second body happened around 5:30 p. m., over 12 hours later.

Bell-Morena said that after hearing what had transpired, he needed to inspect the vehicle himself before he could address the media, he stated on Thursday.

“I couldn’t wrap my head around the concept myself,” he shared. “I looked at the vehicle; its condition was so deformed that unfortunately, she was not easily visible at the scene.”

A Blue Audi struck a Black Honda Civic in the intersection, followed by another collision with a pole, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway, Bell-Morena explained. Three individuals from the Audi were taken to hospital with minor injuries, while an adult man aged 31 was found deceased in the Black Honda Civic and was extricated.

The driver and passenger of the Black Honda Civic were unknown to each other, as it was a rideshare booked by the passenger after attending a social event, he noted.

“The troubling information now is in the sequence of events that followed,” Bell-Morena remarked.

‘No immediate or clear indication of a passenger:’ police

When they extricated the deceased driver from the vehicle “there was no immediate or clear indication of a passenger,” Peel police Const. Amanda Steenson stated.

Then, both vehicles were moved to the police impound yard, Steenson detailed in an email on Thursday.

Hours after the crash occurred, authorities received reports about a missing 20-year-old woman whose last known location was confirmed through a shared tracking app as being at the crash site, Steenson added.

“Officers simultaneously checked both locations-the crash scene and impound yard-to see if there were any signs of a passenger,” Steenson explained.

“Officers thoroughly inspected the rear passenger compartment of the damaged Honda Civic and found remains of the deceased woman embedded in wreckage.”

Steenson indicated that police requested help from Brampton fire and emergency responders to retrieve her body using specialized equipment.

“We understand how deeply this tragedy affects everyone involved and ask for respect regarding their privacy as they grieve this loss,” Steenson expressed.

Passenger Reported Missing by Family and Friends: Police

The woman had two missing persons reports filed-one from family members and another from friends-“about an hour apart,” around 4 p. m., Bell-Morena reported.

“This poor woman did everything that she should have to get home safe that night,” he commented.

“We also need to remember that this is part of an ongoing criminal investigation; much of what I’m sharing is sensitive for ensuring prosecution so that this individual who caused irreversible harm is brought to justice fully.” >

The driver ofthe second vehicle, a17-year-old youth , was chargedwith dangerous drivingcausing deathand failureto complywith demand , Peelpolice stated.

The Major Collision Bureauis nowtakingoverthe investigation, Bell- Morenasaid.
