The beloved Theodore Tugboat reproduction that partially sank in St. Catharines, Ont., has been refloated.
The boat’s proprietor says the life-size model of the TV character was safely righted on Thursday afternoon, however there may be nonetheless extra work to do.
The boat referred to as Theodore Too started taking over water earlier this week whereas docked within the southern Ontario city close to the U.S. border.
The reason for the sinking was unclear, however the proprietor stated nobody was injured.
Theodore Too had been a longtime fixture within the Halifax harbour and since arriving in Ontario, it had made greater than 20 stops alongside the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.
The boat’s proprietor Blair McKeil — who can also be the CEO of Breakwater Monetary — bought the tug in 2021 from the Halifax-based tourism firm Ambassatours Grey Line.
The reproduction was in-built Dayspring, N.S., and launched in 2000, delighting followers of the kids’s TV present that aired on CBC between 1993 and 2001.
