Barrie residents gathered on Monday to honour Canada’s veterans and pay tribute to those that served and sacrificed for the nation.
Town’s Remembrance Day ceremony, held on the downtown Memorial Sq. Cenotaph, featured conventional tributes and moments of reflection.
The service included the laying of wreaths, a second of silence, and readings to recollect these misplaced in conflicts starting from the First and Second World Wars to fashionable peacekeeping missions.
Native veterans, active-duty members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and representatives from the Royal Canadian Legion have been in attendance to mark the solemn event.
Residents have been invited to attend the ceremony and to put on a poppy as an emblem of remembrance.
The realm was closed to visitors to accommodate the occasion.
