A music teacher from Barrie, Ontario, named Jennifer Elise Lawrence, is set to appear in criminal court facing accusations of sex-related offences involving a male student.

Lawrence, who is 32 years old, faces multiple charges including sexual exploitation, child luring, sexual assault, and providing sexually explicit materials to someone under 18, according to the New York Post.

These allegations are linked to events that occurred between February and April 2025.

She was charged after a police investigation was conducted.

Lawrence worked at Maple Ridge Secondary School in Barrie and had been teaching there for about four years.

Reports from CTV indicate she was removed from her teaching duties in April of last year.

Lawrence has been released on a promise of $1,000 bail. She is also barred from working as a teacher and cannot volunteer or hold any position of authority over children. Furthermore, she is prohibited from having any contact with minors.

A provincial judge has determined that there is sufficient evidence for the case to go to trial.

Last April, two publication bans were issued to protect the identity of the complainant and any evidence presented in court from being disclosed.

The charges against Lawrence have yet to be proven in court.

The trial is scheduled for September 2026 in Barrie.
