The Ontario authorities is investing $2.7 million in a brand new cellular psychological well being disaster crew targeted on serving to these experiencing homelessness or crises.


The Neighborhood Different Response Engagement (CARE) crew will work with native emergency providers to supply interventions and join individuals with ongoing care to cut back the necessity for emergency room visits and divert calls away from the police.

The CARE crew is a part of a broader provincial pilot program, with a complete funding of $8 million over three years.


Regionally, the partnership consists of the County of Simcoe, Simcoe County Paramedic Providers, the Canadian Psychological Well being Affiliation (CMHA), and the Barrie police.


“We look ahead to supporting this crew as they start serving the neighborhood,” famous Police Chief Wealthy Johnston.
