A late-night 911 call about a possible break-in in Barrie, Ont., ended with a masked culprit making a quick escape.
At around 12:35 a. m. on Thursday, the Barrie Police Service responded to a report of unusual activity at a home near Sunnidale Road and Oakridge Drive.
Barrie Police spokesperson Peter Leon told that the homeowner heard noises coming from his garage several times and thought someone might be trying to get in.

Four officers arrived to check things out and found the garage door wide open; however, they quickly noticed that the masked suspect was not human. The intruder turned out to be a raccoon that had made its way into the garage. “Needless to say, the bandit, who was four-legged, ran from the garage and we haven’t had any reports of him since,” said Leon. No further sightings were reported in the area.
