Present particulars:
Freezing rain is anticipated.
Hazard:
Freezing rain resulting in ice build-up of two to 4 mm on some surfaces.
Timing:
Monday morning and early afternoon.
Dialogue:
A low stress system is approaching southern Ontario and can deliver a mix of precipitation to the world. Precipitation is anticipated to start as freezing rain Monday morning and proceed into the afternoon. The freezing rain is anticipated to transition to rain or drizzle as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
There’s a potential for freezing drizzle by Monday night as temperatures are anticipated to stay close to the freezing mark, significantly over greater terrain.
Surfaces akin to highways, roads, walkways and parking heaps could develop into icy and slippery. Utility outages could happen.
Take additional care when strolling or driving in affected areas.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
