Police have upgraded charges in opposition to an arrested teenager in a Collingwood faculty risk investigation.


On September 11, the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) obtained a report a few potential risk to Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) by a former pupil.


It was found that the risk was made in March 2024 and was not imminent.


Nonetheless, an investigation started below the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit and later below the course of the OPP Legal Investigation Department (CIB).


Following the 2 arrests on September 11, a search warrant of an digital machine revealed further particulars, indicating the plan to hurt college students was elaborate and well-researched.


“Thanks to everybody who offered details about this risk. Your actions have helped shield college students and workers from potential hurt. The upgraded charges present the magnitude and seriousness of this investigation. Although the fees have been upgraded, this investigation stays ongoing and we urge anybody with further data to contact the OPP,” mentioned Det. Insp. Sean Chatland with the OPP’s CIB.


Because of the investigation, the fees for a 19-year outdated Clearview Township resident have been upgraded to:



Tried homicide

Try to commit an assault with a weapon

Two counts of possession of a firearm

Three counts of possession of a prohibited machine

Two counts of careless storage of a firearm

Three counts of illegal possession of ammunition

Three counts of weapons harmful

Three counts of possession a prohibited machine for a goal harmful to the general public peace


The Clearview teen stays in custody and is scheduled to seem on January 20 on the Ontario Courtroom of Justice in Barrie.


Police are working with the Simcoe County District College Board and administrative workers at CCI to supply sufferer assist.
