Gordon Belshaw handed into the presence of his Lord on November 6, 2024. He was born in London England on September 26, 1922 to Jane Gordon and Frederick John Belshaw. Gordon served within the Residence Guard and the British Military, till demobilized in 1947. Gordon served in Italy, a rustic which he beloved and which led to a lifelong curiosity in talking Italian to associates at any time when he may. Because of his warfare experiences, Gordon relished telling tales of the “great British invention” Bailey Bridges which enabled troops and automobiles to cross rivers and waterways.

After the warfare, Gordon returned to Glasgow College and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. Whereas in Glasgow, Gordon met Cynthia Eileen Callaghan in Sauchiehall Road. They fell in love, married in 1948, and had been collectively for 54 years. Gordon and Cynthia emigrated from Scotland to Montreal in 1957 with their younger kids. In Quebec, Gordon labored for electrical engineering corporations together with Brown Boveri, and Hydro Quebec When the household moved to Toronto in 1969, Gordon labored for Ontario Hydro and Westinghouse Canada, focussing on transformer gross sales till his retirement in 1985. Gordon met Audrey Chambers after a serendipitous assembly on a bus tour in France. They continued to journey the globe. Gordon and Audrey had been married for 15 years earlier than she died in 2022. They delighted in one another’s firm.

Whereas Gordon’s skilled profession had a scientific focus, he various pursuits and had a particular inventive aspect. He was an achieved violinist as a youth, profitable numerous medals. Gordon performed an lively position within the Scouting motion. As a youth, he was a Queen Scout. He performed a management position in Cub packs whereas in Montreal. He embraced a number of new hobbies over time, together with of stained glass, jewellery making and needlework. He was an avid gardener and delighted in sharing his secrets and techniques for a weed free garden. In his 90’s, he travelled to Oxford for a choral singing workshop and was proud to be requested to usher in numerous choral elements. Gordon was fiercely unbiased. In the previous few months of his life, he accepted his growing bodily limitations with grace. The household are very grateful for the groups of caregivers and associates that taken care of Gordon so nicely on the Waterford, in addition to caregivers from A Caring Coronary heart, ComForCare, and Ontario Well being at Residence, whose help was invaluable to his well being and well-being.

Gordon is survived by his kids, Colin Belshaw (Ann Davis), and Dilys Haughton (Lee), his grandchildren Geoff Belshaw (Kersti), William Haughton, Andrew Haughton (Alanna), and his nice grandchildren, Braeden, Connor, Keegan and Katelyn Belshaw, Emily and Nicholas Haughton.

Cremation has taken place. 

At Legacy Funeral Residence 55 Cedar Pointe Drive, Barrie Ontario (entrance and parking on HWY 400 aspect of the constructing) on Saturday, November 23 there might be: 

A time to go to with the household and others who knew Gordon from 3:30 – 4:30 pm.

A funeral service from 4:30 – 5:20 pm.

A reception at 5:30 with gentle meals and drinks.
