A fire that caused a large, dark plume of smoke into the skies over Barrie on Monday is not considered suspicious.
According to Dep. Chief Derek Wilson with the Barrie Fire and Emergency Service, fire crews used heavy machinery to contain the flames at the All Ontario Recycling Monday afternoon on Tiffin Street near Ferndale Drive.

Bev Swan opened the scrapyard in Barrie about a decade ago and said they were waiting on investigators to finish their probe. “We’re just glad nobody was hurt,” she added.
The Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Environment are investigating the fire. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office will not be conducting an investigation.
