Niagara police have taken a St. Catharines man into custody for the alleged sexual assault of a young girl.
Officers responded to a report of sexual assault at a Niagara Falls location on June 11 at approximately 9:10 p. m.
During their initial investigation, detectives found that a man had approached a young girl who was walking near the intersection of Geneva Street and North Service Road in St. Catharines.
On August 19, police arrested 27-year-old Achraf Ghalil from St. Catharines and charged him with four offenses related to child abuse, including luring and sexual assault.

Ghalil is currently being held in custody ahead of his bail hearing on Wednesday.
