Windsor police report that a 31-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of an unresponsive individual early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to a call around 5:30 a. m. regarding a parking lot at Windsor Regional Hospital’s Metropolitan campus.
Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive man who had sustained what police described as a “fatal injury.” The man was later pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room.
Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit determined that the victim had been hurt before arriving at the hospital and was left outside.
According to police, the suspect and victim knew each other, indicating this was an isolated incident.
The suspect was located at a residence on Broderick Road near North Townline Road in La Salle. Members of the Windsor police’s Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant and made an arrest.
Brandon Gerard Leigh is facing charges of first-degree murder.
This charge has not yet been proven in court. The investigation remains ongoing.
The victim, who was 44 years old, has not yet been named publicly.
