Jerome was born in Beaver Dam on October 7, 1936, to Leonard and Ester (Nitschke) Pieper. He married his wife, Janet Ann Link on February 22, 1958. Together they raised six children and enjoyed the company of seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He and Janet loved traveling and had many adventures on their motorcycles. One of his fondest memories was riding with Janet and friends all the way to Vermont-just one of many motorcycle trips they took together. RV traveling was another favorite pastime that took them across the country including visits to their oldest son Jeff in Alaska. He always made time to see his only daughter Joleen wherever her Army career had stationed her. His travels also included trips abroad to Mexico, Canada, Germany, France, Netherlands, and Ireland.
He worked hard throughout his life to provide well for his family. Right up until he passed away he remained active and doing what he loved best-driving a tractor-trailer rig. He spent time sifting for gold in Alaskan rivers with Jeff while Jim and Jon along with grandson Corey became his fishing and hunting buddies across various states and Canada during numerous fishing trips as well as boating outings. Jay and Joel created countless memories with him over the years attending car shows, tractor pulls, fairs among other activities together. For many years he took family camping trips with friends; this was his way of unwinding after being on the road as a long-haul truck driver for so long. An avid reader with an inquisitive mind about life’s many wonders he would enjoy going out for drives exploring historical sites or visiting state parks nationwide when given the chance in addition to enjoying shooting pool competitively back in his younger days or clay shooting or snowmobiling every now then too! Teaching kids how to make homemade ice cream or taking them berry picking were just some ways he liked spending quality time bonding over fun projects that ended up delicious treats afterwards!
Two weeks before he passed away Jerome returned home after making a solo trip down to Virginia and back just so he could attend grandson Jeremy’s retirement ceremony from military service where he met Evelyn (Jeremy), his first great-granddaughter plus two newest arrivals Eliana (Carrington) & Jovi’yana (Ja Lyssa). Gemma (Amanda), may she rest peacefully was truly special part of Jerome’s life whose loss affected him deeply though thankfully it didn’t stop him from celebrating grandson Carrington’s graduation from Army Basic Training in South Carolina along with granddaughter Ja Lyssa’s college graduation in Texas shortly thereafter! As very involved grandparents who welcomed five boys but only one girl-they now have four beautiful great-granddaughters that bring immense joy into their lives! Jerome stood out as someone kind-hearted willing always lend a helping hand whenever needed-he possessed gentle nature surrounded by loving friends who appreciated how much love flowed between him & cherished family!
