Republican Congressman Randy Fine plans to introduce the “Protecting Puppies from Sharia Act” after igniting a heated debate over Islam online.

Just days ago, Mr. Fine stated: “If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one” in reaction to a pro-Palestine activist on social media.

He was responding to comments made by campaigner Nerdeen Kiswani who referred to dogs as “unclean” and claimed that New York City is “coming to Islam.”

Now, Mr. Fine has promised to cut funding for any state or local authority that prohibits residents from owning dogs.

“Democrats are losing their minds because I made a simple statement – given a choice between our dogs and those who would ban them, the choice is easy,” he said on Thursday night.

“This Bill will ban federal funds to any state or local government that considers dogs ‘haram’,” he added.

In challenging New York’s socialist Mayor, Mr. Fine remarked: “Proceed accordingly, Mamdani.”

Certain areas in the US have restrictions on specific dog breeds – but no authority has outright banned dogs yet.

A non-binding part of the proposed law also states that “Sharia law is a foreign concept that is against the pursuit of happiness” and asserts that “it is a right of all Americans to own a dog.”

Recently, parts of social media erupted with anger following Mr. Fine’s comments.

Activist Ms. Kiswani later claimed her remark was just a joke about melting snow revealing dog waste in NYC.

However, Mr. Fine dismissed her explanation.

“There’s no reading of it that sounds satirical.. No reasonable person can say: ‘Ha ha, this is funny,'” he added.

Top Democrat and vocal Trump critic Hakeem Jeffries released a statement on Tuesday calling Mr. Fine “a disgrace to the United States Congress” and labeled him “an Islamophobic, disgusting bigot.”

The representative then urged Republicans to “hold this so-called Member of Congress accountable.”

Nobody likes too much noise about this kind of stuff anyway! And infamous Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined her party colleagues in insisting that Mr. Fine should lose his committee positions.

The Governor of California Gavin Newsom called for his resignation as well and insulted him by calling him “a slob.”

Mister fine has remained defiant against his critics by sharing modified libertarian Gadsden flags featuring puppies instead of the usual snake along with the phrase “Don’t tread on me.”

If someone comes up saying: ‘Hey we’ve just arrived here where you live; Dogs are against our faith so you must stop having them,’ my reply would be: ‘No way! These are our pets; you’re welcome to go home,’” Mister fine commented. “Immigration means fitting in! It doesn’t mean people who already live here need change their lives for your comfort,” He insisted. The Congressman hinted at an upcoming surprise saying: “Wait until you see who my guest is for the State of the Union.”
