A charity polar plunge to support Special Olympics Ontario, along with a hockey fundraiser, is happening soon in Georgian Bluffs.
On March 7, from 1-3 p. m., the Inter Township Fire Department and Grey Bruce OPP will host the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario at the Shallow Lake Community Centre, coinciding with a charity hockey game.
The hockey game kicks off at 1 p. m., featuring local firefighters going up against Grey Bruce OPP officers. During this time, you can register either as a team or as an individual for the polar plunge, and you’ll get to choose your own walk-up music for the event.
At 2 p. m., the polar plunge will begin, and afterward, participants can warm up in a sauna provided by Northern Leisure Port Elgin.
Hot drinks will be available for free at the event thanks to the Shallow Lake Minor Hockey League canteen.
Admission is by donation, and if you’d like, you can donate ahead of time. All funds raised will help support Special Olympians both locally and across Ontario.
You can register as a team or make a donation in advance on the Polar Plunge website here: Grey Bruce 2026 Polar Plunge.
