Police report that officers confiscated around 635 grams of cocaine and over $40,000 in cash; a search warrant was also carried out in Midland.
Five individuals were taken into custody for drug trafficking after two search warrants were executed in Barrie and Midland on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP, officers from the community street crime unit (CSCU) searched a residence on Bay Street in Midland on February 12.
Inside the home, five people were arrested, with four of them facing joint charges. A fifth person was apprehended due to an outstanding arrest warrant linked to a different case.
The OPP Central Region’s emergency response team and canine unit assisted with the warrant execution in Midland.
During the search, police reported that they found about 280 grams of cocaine and approximately $1,300 in cash.
The investigation has led to charges against 32-year-old Jordan Brown from Barrie, 53-year-old Shelly Legault from Midland, 52-year-old Darin Roy from Midland, and 55-year-old Steven Summers from Victoria Harbour. They are charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine) for trafficking purposes and possession of property obtained by crime valued under $5,000.
After executing the first warrant, members of the Southern Georgian Bay CSCU collaborated with Muskoka CSCU to carry out another search warrant at an apartment located on Mary Street in Barrie. Police say they seized roughly 635 grams of cocaine and more than $40,000 in cash during this operation.
Brown is also facing additional charges related to possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine) for trafficking purposes and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
No allegations have been tested in court yet.
The accused individuals were released on undertakings and are expected to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on March 26.
