Long before this Vaughan home invasion went deadly wrong leading to the senseless shooting of an innocent father, there was a weapons prohibition placed by a judge on one of the accused charged with first-degree murder.

That was a good decision from a courthouse. Many release orders from custody were perhaps in hindsight, not such good decisions.

This situation can’t be changed now. However, it’s hard not to think that if this man had been kept locked up or if gun restrictions had been enforced properly, maybe this tragedy could have been avoided.

But that’s not how this disturbing story unfolded.

Abdul Aleem Farooqi was shot while trying to protect his family.Abdul Aleem Farooqi was shot while trying to protect his family. (Instagram)<P shockingly less than two months after a Kleinburg dad was shot while defending his family at home , the adult arrested for his first-degree murder was allegedly involved in a kidnapping incident in Peel Region.

<P In fact ,26-year-old Amir Wiam Mohammad Abuhmaid was actually being held for that kidnapping when York Regional Police arrived at a local detention center to charge him with murdering beloved businessman Abdul Aleem Farooqi on August 31st.

TEENAGER STILL ON LOOSE

<P Several others are charged regarding that horrific incident -and a16-year-old boy cannot be identified under Youth Criminal Justice Act will face first-degree murder charges once he's apprehended.

This case came together thanks to exceptional investigative work by York Regional Police Chief Jim Mac Sween along with his homicide unit utilizing everything from traditional forensics techniques through advanced crime-fighting technologies leading them here. To note , those accused remain presumed innocent until proven guilty within a court setting where charges have yetto undergo examination.Murder victim.. seen here alongside Premier Doug Ford (L)and Energy Minister Stephen Lecce.<p But it certainly won’t be Abuhmaid's first time appearing before judges. In fact he spent much time throughout adulthood visiting courthouses regularly. “ He has a long record,” said justice source.”He’s had troubled life.” Hopefully new bail reforms discussed by Mark Carney government consider situations like this. The only positive outcome arising out of such atrocious acts may involve establishing better protocols regarding releasing violent offenders pending trial.
