The Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition is bringing the laughs to Newmarket this spring with the return of its popular annual comedy fundraiser, Laugh for Lake Simcoe. The event will take place Wednesday, May 21, 2026, at 7 p. m. at Newmarket’s Old Town Hall, marking the first time the long-running event has been held at the historic venue. Now a popular annual tradition across the Lake Simcoe watershed, Laugh for Lake Simcoe brings together people who care about the future of the lake for an evening of connection, community, and great comedy. This year’s lineup features three well-known Canadian comedians: Rob Bebenek Laurie Elliott Mike Wilmot Together, they promise a clever, high-energy night of laughs in one of Newmarket’s most iconic cultural spaces. “There’s a stereotype that environmental advocacy has to be serious and a bit solemn,” said Jonathan Scott, Executive Director of the Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition. “This event cheerfully disproves that. We’re here to have some laughs. Birkenstocks are not required.” The move to Old Town Hall reflects the Coalition’s ongoing commitment to engaging communities throughout the Lake Simcoe watershed and reaching new audiences in welcoming, accessible ways. Whether attending with friends, a partner, or coworkers, Laugh for Lake Simcoe offers an enjoyable night out. Attendees can enjoy top-tier comedy, connect with fellow lake lovers, and support the Coalition’s advocacy and education work focused on land-use planning, water quality, and accountability under the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan. Tickets are on sale now at https://rescuelakesimcoe. org/events/. ***********************
