HARRIS, Vaughan Richard: Born in Marmora on October 12, 1958 and passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 in his 68th year. Vaughan was a loving son to Gerald and Shirley (Simmons) Harris, both deceased. Beloved husband of almost 23 years to Karen O’Brien-Harris. Loving brother to Heather (Larry d.), Brian d. (Carol d.), Karen (Frank), Cheryl, Jan (Mike), Charlene (Luis), and Terry. Stepfather to Chris O’Brien (Jordan), and Derrick O’Brien (Nikki). Grandfather to Nadea Paul (Mike), Ethan Paul (Shania), Lincoln O’Brien, Caitlyn O’Brien, and Sophie O’Brien. Step-grandfather to Kal and Brooklin. Loving nephew to Grant and Donna Simmons. Sadly missed by his best friend and canine companion Jasper. Vaughan was a lab technologist for 30 years, mostly with Civic Hospital and PRHC. Vaughan was always loving and kind but we all will remember him for his sarcastic sense of humor. He always told it like it is. After retirement, Vaughan joined the Woodturners Guild and served on their board for several years. He forged many long lasting friendships with many members. Vaughan made hundreds of pens and ornaments over the years which many people treasure and remember for the generous man he was. Vaughan and Karen enjoyed many travels over the years. Always the historian and an avid reader. Vaughan had fought this cancer since 2015. Always the positive, courageous warrior. Many thanks to the oncology staff, the palliative care team and the hospice staff as well as Dr. Weir, Dr. W. Meade, Dr. Anjum, and Dr. Mallory. Visitation will take place at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Saturday, February 14th from 11:30 am to 1:00pm followed by a Funeral Service in the Highland Chapel at 1:00pm Canon Brad Smith officiating. Interment Highland Park Cemetery followed by a light luncheon in Highland Park Reception Centre. In his memory, donations to Hospice Peterborough or the Oncology Department of PRHC would be appreciated by his family. Online condolences may be expressed at www. highlandparkfuneralcentre. com
