Becky was born in Meaford on May 2, 1983, and was the beloved daughter of Peggy (nee Weatherall) and Denver Holden.
She will be missed by her brother Jeremy, his wife Beth, and their kids Finn and Cooper. Her brother Robin, his wife Amy, and their children Briden and Harlan will also feel her absence.
Becky will always be remembered fondly by her aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Her faithful travel buddy Mawkoose will miss all the adventures they had together.
At just 2 weeks old, Becky took her first trip to Nestor Falls and Lake of the Woods. This must have left quite an impression since she decided to live there year-round after graduating from the University of Ottawa.
Becky started figure skating at age 2 and continued through her teenage years before giving back as a coach and judge. As an adult, she shifted her focus to outdoor activities. You could often find her kayaking or paddleboarding or cross-country skiing on Kakagi Lake during winter months. In summer, she loved doing yoga on the dock at the cabin on Lake of the Woods. She also enjoyed traveling to BC to visit friends or embarking on more adventurous trips like a yoga retreat in India.
Becky worked as a Policy Analyst on the Indigenous Midwifery team with the Association of Ontario Midwives. She dedicated herself to supporting Indigenous midwives and communities tirelessly. Her experience included working with Grand Council Treaty 3 as a Health Policy Analyst and serving as a Crisis Coordinator and Family Well-Being Coordinator for Ojibway’s of Onigaming First Nation. She also taught at Seven Generations Education Institute. Through her work, she impacted many lives in the Lake of the Woods area.
Her Anishinaabe name Miigwaans means “Little Feather,” which she received while working at Grand Council Treaty 3. During ceremonies or meetings, she would introduce herself using both her English name and Anishinaabe name. While she’ll certainly be missed, she’ll never be forgotten.
The family invites friends to visit them at Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford for a public visitation on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 5 until 8 p. m. A private family service will happen later.
The family wishes to thank Riverside Health Care staff in Fort Frances as well as Brightshores Health and Grey Bruce Hospice-Chapman House in Owen Sound for their compassionate care during Becky’s stays.
