The Ontario Provincial Police reported that the accident happened shortly before 10 p. m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, on Highway 7 between Kaladar and Arden Road. It involved a transport truck and a pickup truck.

Officers from the OPP’s Frontenac detachment, along with firefighters from Central Frontenac Township and Frontenac Paramedics, were dispatched to the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was alone in the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene. The transport truck driver was taken to the hospital with injuries that are still being assessed.

The investigation is ongoing with help from the OPP East Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team, which includes a collision reconstructionist and technical collision investigators.

As of this writing, Highway 7 is closed between highways 38 and 41.

Authorities are asking anyone who saw the accident or has information or dashcam footage to reach out to Frontenac OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and reference incident E260071268.
