A child found inside a burning house in Markham is currently in critical condition.
Fire crews responded to the fire around noon on Friday at a residence located on 16th Avenue and 9th Line.
The home was evacuated, and an initial post from York Regional Police indicated that there were no injuries reported.
However, as firefighters searched the building, they discovered a young child inside who was critically injured.

According to police, the child has been taken to the hospital and is in life-threatening condition.
The Office of the Fire Marshal will be investigating at the scene.
