I have a fantastic list of things for you to experience in Ottawa, Eastern Ontario, and the Outaouais this week-everything from a home show and costume sale in Ottawa to a food truck festival in Renfrew, the opening weekend of a musical in Gananoque, a fall fair in Metcalfe, a clothing sale in Gatineau, a paranormal investigation in Dunvegan and an autumn colors walk at Leamy Lake. Keep reading for all the details.

A new event called the Race to End Homelessness invites participants to walk or run 1km, 5km or 10km on Saturday, October 4. This event aims to raise funds for the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa, which includes over 75 organizations working towards eliminating homelessness in our city. All routes begin at the RA Centre on Riverside Drive.

This weekend also features one of the capital’s largest walk/run events-the Race for the Kids-to support CHEO. To take part in the 2km, 5km or 10km walk/run at Wesley Clover Parks in Nepean on Sunday, October 5, you need to register online ahead of time.

On Sunday, October 5, join the Best Buddies Friendship Walk-a 1km stroll in Kingston that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event starts and ends at Lake Ontario Park.

Enjoy amazing concerts everywhere

The Ontario Festival of Small Halls is returning with an exciting lineup of concerts set to take place at cozy venues across Eastern Ontario starting Friday, October 3rd and continuing throughout fall. Honestly, there are just too many concerts and locations to mention here (but you’ll find them all listed in my extensive concert guide). To give you an idea of what’s happening this first weekend: catch AHI performing in Almonte or Morrisburg; The Pairs will be playing in Maberly or Chaffey’s Lock; Chantal Kreviazuk will be performing live in Russell (her show at Almonte is already sold out); and The Rowdymen can be seen in Carleton Place.

If that’s not enough variety for you check my concert list where you can discover shows featuring Garnet Rogers, Brian Adams tribute acts as well as performances dedicated to AC/DC and Anne Murray among others this week.
