Ontario Provincial Police reported that a man in his late 70s was fatally struck by a tree that fell after a significant ice storm at the end of last month.

Peterborough County OPP stated on Monday that they received a call to a residence in the Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, located just south of Peterborough, regarding someone being hit by a tree.

Officers talked to a witness who mentioned that the homeowner had requested assistance with clearing trees damaged during the storm, according to police.
