Two hospitals in the area are getting provincial funds to extend their CT scanner operating hours.

On Friday, Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington, announced a total of $2 million in funding for Listowel Memorial Hospital and Stratford General Hospital.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA), which manages Stratford Hospital, will receive $1,389,950, while Listowel Hospital will get $683,600.

The investments aim to support our local hospitals and the operation of CT machines, while also providing extra funds to reduce waiting lists for various surgeries: including neurosurgeries, orthopedic, gynecologic, cataract, hernia and pediatric surgeries.

“These funds will enable the HPHA team to improve access to care by reducing wait times for essential surgeries and CT scans, helping ensure patients receive the care they need when they need it most,”said Andrew Williams, President and CEO of HPHA.

This funding is part of a broader investment across Ontario aimed at supporting 324,000 additional CT hours across 86 hospitals in Ontario.
