The OPP, along with the Peterborough Police Service, have filed charges during an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.
In July 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) started looking into people suspected of distributing controlled substances.
On August 26, OPP officers apprehended two individuals in Englehart who were found with about 125 grams of what is believed to be cocaine.
Search warrants were carried out at sites in North Kawartha Township, Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, and the Township of Selwyn.
As a result of these searches, police recovered suspected cocaine, around 1.8 kilograms of suspected marijuana, other cannabis items, cell phones, and materials linked to transaction records. They also seized several firearms and handgun ammunition.
Jomo Frederick (39), from the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, faces charges for:
– Possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis
– Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
– Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
Cameron Edwards (22), from Peterborough, has been charged with:
– Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Both individuals are being held for bail and will appear before Ontario Court of Justice.
Two more people were arrested after searching an address in the Township of Selwyn.
Kassandra Immings (35), from the Township of Selwyn, has been charged with:
– Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – three counts
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm – six counts
– Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
This individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in October.
Shawn Edwards (51), from the Township of Selwyn, has been charged with:
– Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – three counts
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm – six counts
The custody was transferred to Peterborough police for both accused individuals.
