A 28-year-old man from Mississauga is now facing 27 charges related to firearms after an investigation into the trafficking of weapons and restricted devices across Ontario.
In May 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began looking into claims of firearms trafficking, getting assistance from Peel Regional Police and the London Police Service.
On September 11, Gurpreet Gill was taken into custody at a location in Mississauga, where officers carried out a search warrant on his home and vehicle.
The police found six guns, including one that had a selector switch allowing for fully automatic fire, along with a semi-automatic rifle. They also recovered over $30,000 in Canadian cash and several mobile phones connected to the suspected operation.
Gill faces charges including six counts of trafficking firearms, weapons, devices or ammunition; seven counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition while under prohibition; three counts of possessing a prohibited device or ammunition; four counts of having a prohibited firearm with ammunition; five counts of knowingly letting someone unauthorized possess a firearm; and two counts of possessing property obtained by crime worth more than $5,000.
The suspect has since been released under certain conditions. He is expected to appear in court on October 22.
