Our amazing mother, Moira Bodak, left us on January 30, 2026, at the age of 93 after a fulfilling life.
Moira Doreen Work was born in Fort William as the third daughter of Peter and Margaret Work.
Mom met our dad, Bill Bodak, while they were in high school. They tied the knot on June 1st, 1955.
We were lucky to grow up in a home where our parents truly cared for one another. They were dedicated to each other and to all of us. Our mom loved being a parent. She was always full of energy and ready for an adventure. Our home was lively with kids, laughter, and plenty of fun. She and Dad were our biggest supporters.
Moira found joy at her camp by One Island Lake. Life at the camp started with no electricity or running water but had lots of kids and a husband who loved golf. Mom turned everything into an exciting experience out there. One of her last wishes was to take a drive to the camp. We will honor Mom as the next generation grows up enjoying her beloved camp. Mom was an incredible Nana who took part in all her grandchildren’s hobbies and activities. She was their #1 chauffeur. St. Paul’s United Church played a significant role in our parents’ lives where she made lifelong friendships as a young bride. Mom remained an active member until her health began to decline.
Moira will always be remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Anne Smith (Craig), Bob (Cindy), Marla Poulin (Dale), Brenda Campbell (Don). Her grandchildren include Allison, Paul, Heather, Kate, Andrew, Christy Campbell, Shayla, Will, Jill Bodak, Alyssa Poulin, Bryce Bodak along with 12 great-grandchildren.
Mom’s life took a turn after our father passed away. She showed us how to appreciate and be thankful for the time we had together while continuing to move forward with strength. Losing our brother Bill due to his severe stroke was heartbreaking for her; she missed him every day until she passed.
Moira is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Bodak , her sisters Lorraine Hillier and Phyllis Dubinsky , and her beloved son Bill.
We are so grateful for Mom’s care from Caroline , Bill’s Bayshore worker , and the staff at Chartwell Arundel. In her final years , she received compassionate care from the wonderful team on the fourth floor at Pioneer Ridge whom she considered friends. They supported her during her peaceful departure.
Mom loved sports and cheered on all family events. In lieu of flowers , please think about donating to PRO Kids or your favorite charity.
