Durham Regional Police report that they have taken an Oshawa man into custody after he supposedly threatened some of his colleagues at a workplace in Whitby.

Authorities received a call on Monday, February 2, when an employee at the Durham Region Waste Management Facility located at 1640 Ritson Road North reportedly made threats towards other staff members.

After looking into the matter, police found the suspect at his home and arrested him.

During the arrest, law enforcement stated that the suspect willingly handed over legally-owned firearms.

Damien Johnston, 34, from Oshawa, is charged with one count of uttering threats.

He has been detained for a bail hearing.
