George Morrow, aged 94, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at Hogarth Riverview Manor. He was born to Pearl and Albert Morrow and was the oldest of six siblings. George grew up on the family farm in Corbett Creek in Murillo and often shared fond memories of his childhood there. At just 16, he left home to work in small towns along the CPR railway line in Northern Ontario and Manitoba, where he learned to be a telegraph operator. His love for trains remained strong throughout his life as he reminisced about the old steam engines from his youth. After nearly 40 years with CPR, he retired from the Thunder Bay Station at age 55.
George’s greatest pride was his loving wife Lorraine, with whom he spent 69 wonderful years, along with their four children. He had a special fondness for babies and adored his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Together with Lorraine, they enjoyed welcoming family and friends to their lake home in Shebandowan and their winter retreat in Naples Florida. They traveled each year in their camper van, making stops to see friends and family along the way.
Throughout the decades, George was a loyal friend who built close relationships while enjoying hobbies like fishing, boating, moose hunting, and golfing. He dedicated himself to these interests wholeheartedly. George also hand-cleared land to construct a lovely family home on Goods Road. A true jack of all trades, woodworking was his passion; he spent countless hours perfecting his craft. In his youth, he built a wooden speedboat and several wooden canoes as well as many beautiful pieces of furniture and unique live edge tables during retirement.
George is survived by his daughters Anne Dorval (Tom) and Susan Lui (Dave), as well as son
Louis Morrow (Melanie), grandchildren Michael (Callyn), Lisa (Trent), Jordan (Melody), Mikaela (Shawn), Gabriella, Andrea, Meagan, Riley and Sydney; great-grandchildren Ethan and Georgia; brother Terry Morrow (Valerie); sister-in-law Barbara Morrow; sister-in-law Lorna Lehtinen (Herb).
He was sadly predeceased by wife Lorraine; son Andy; daughter-in-law Paula Morrow; parents Albert and Pearl Morrow; in-laws Luigi and Ada De Lorenzi; sister Joan Romano (Floyd); brothers Dale (Marilyn), William and Robert (Beverley) Morrow; niece Sandra Morrow; nephew Brad Romano.
A Celebration of Life will take place this summer for both George and Lorraine together. Cremation has already occurred.
In lieu of flowers, if friends wish to contribute something meaningful instead, donations can be made to St James Anglican Church at 10505 John Street Rd., Murillo ON P7K 0W6.
