Kelvin Phillip Norris was just 21 when he vanished from his grandmother’s house near Bath around 11 p. m. on November 27, 1984, according to Ontario Provincial Police. He was reported missing by family members shortly after.
The police launched an extensive investigation that they say started right away and has been revisited multiple times over the years; however, Kelvin is still missing after more than forty years.
The OPP confirmed that their initial response included ground searches as well as air support and canine units. There was also significant media coverage at that time. Investigators spoke with numerous people and searched extensively around their rural home located near Highway 33 (Loyalist Parkway), where Norris lived with his mother, grandmother, and younger brother. The farm was surrounded by fields and factories while being adjacent to Lake Ontario further south. No signs of foul play were found during this time.

“It was discovered that Kelvin did not take any personal items with him that night,” OPP East Region Media Coordinator Bill Dickson shared with Kingstonist in a statement.
Lacking any vehicle or personal belongings made it tough for investigators who had very few leads.
For those close to him, Kelvin Norris represented much more than just a name on a missing persons list.
Derek Traise is Kelvin’s younger brother. He told Kingstonist that despite some typical “teenage shenanigans,” Kelvin was “a great guy. Solid. Loyal.”
The family had five kids-four boys and one girl-with Derek being the youngest among them while Kelvin sat comfortably in between them all. Derek remembered how athletic and sociable Kelvin used to be back then; he had interests like sports as well as boxing too! Like many families back then though they faced periods of struggle but maintained strong connections between siblings throughout it all.
