Following a year-long investigation into the suspected trafficking of illegal firearms, fentanyl, and cocaine, the Ontario Provincial Police have charged 11 individuals, confiscating 31 crime guns and drugs valued at over $2 million on the street.

The investigation began with the London Police Service (LPS) in the fall of 2024 due to rising violence linked to firearms. It uncovered connections to illegal firearms and various criminal networks, prompting the launch of Project ALIAS in January 2025, where OPP was brought in to collaborate with LPS.

According to OPP, investigators identified several criminal networks allegedly capable of acquiring illegal firearms and high-capacity magazines alongside large quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. They discovered that these independently functioning networks worked together but weren’t connected to a single organized crime group.

As the investigation progressed, it became clear that firearm and drug trafficking mainly occurred within Ontario. However, two individuals were reportedly sourcing firearms from the United States. The seized guns originated from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, Ohio, and Virginia.

In addition to weapons, OPP states that these criminal networks participated in significant domestic trafficking of fentanyl and cocaine.

On January 14th, multiple law enforcement agencies-including teams from LPS, OPP, Toronto Police Service, Hamilton Police Service, and RCMP-executed 14 search warrants across residences and vehicles in London and Toronto.

Throughout this investigation and as a result of executing search warrants, law enforcement seized:

31 crime guns       25 prohibited devices like overcapacity magazines and auto switches       One imitation firearm       12.5 kg of suspected fentanyl       4.5 kg of suspected cocaine       275 oxycodone pills       460 hydromorphone pills       75 alprazolam pills       $64,000       Two vehicles related to offenses       High-end jewelry       Cell phones and electronic devices

The authorities have charged 11 people who collectively face 214 charges for offenses including weapons trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, drug trafficking as well as possession of property obtained through crime. Nine suspects are in custody while two others remain at large.

The following individuals have been arrested and charged:

Mohammad Nofal, 22 years old from London-25 charges. Rani Rafel, 20 years old from London-36 charges. Mohamed Kadri, 22 years old from London-four charges. Mohamed Yousuf ,28 years old from London-98 charges. Bentiu Yar ,23 years old from London-31 charges. Liam O’Hea ,21 years old from Toronto-four charges. Ruey Tut ,20 years old from London-four charges. Taylor Green ,24 years old from London-four charges. Gabriel Ebrahim ,26 years old from North York-four charges.

Four accused individuals have been released on bail with court appearances scheduled for February while five others remain detained with court dates set for late January or February.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 22-year-old male from Stoney Creek along with a 28-year-old male from North York; their names are withheld at this time as they each face two charges.
