A morning hit-and-run in East Hamilton closed Lawrence Street close to Province Avenue South and disrupted the birthday of a neighborhood resident.
The crash occurred round 6:15 a.m., and two individuals from one of many vehicles concerned fled the scene.
CHCH’s Simone Gavros spoke with Chad Upson, the motive force whose automotive was hit. Upson was on his approach house after an evening shift.
“I’m in a little bit of shock, I was about 30 seconds from home,” Upson mentioned. “It’s my birthday today, and it’s just a weird feeling. I am glad I am okay.”
Upson says he isn’t injured.
The eastbound car that hit Upson’s collided with a fence and tree on a neighbouring property after hitting his automotive.
Upson says the motive force then fled.
The home-owner spoke with CHCH and mentioned that he on the point of take out rubbish when he heard sounds from the collision.
“I came outside, and the vehicle had taken out my fence and our tree. Two people were exiting the vehicle quickly, and they took off down Lawrence Road,” Sean Sinclair mentioned.
“This is the second time someone has crashed through our fence. The first time was in the winter, and speed was a factor.”
Sinclair added that many drivers don’t adhere to the 50 km/h posted velocity restrict on Lawrence Street.
Lawrence Street is at the moment closed between Province Avenue South and Edgemont Avenue South as police clear the particles. Each vehicles have been towed from the scene.
Police have but to verify the elements that led to the crash.
