A winter storm alert has been issued for much of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), as well as Halton, Hamilton, and Niagara.
The Hamilton and Niagara areas are expected to see between 20 to 35 cm of snow from Sunday into Monday morning.
In Halton and Toronto, snowfall could reach 20 to 40 cm, with peak rates hitting 5 to 8 cm per hour.
Drivers should be cautious as visibility may be poor on the roads due to blowing snow and wind gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.
Environment Canada notes that heavier snowfall is likely in Toronto, the GTA, Oakville, and Burlington due to lake effect snow from Lake Ontario.
The snow is predicted to lighten overnight into flurries or light snow.
