The Ontario Provincial Police’s Renfrew detachment is looking into a tragic two-car accident that resulted in the deaths of two women from Val-des-Monts, Quebec, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the OPP, the driver of the pickup truck, who was alone in the vehicle, did not sustain any injuries.

The crash and subsequent investigation caused a temporary closure of Highway 17 in both directions between Chenaux Road and Bruce Street in Renfrew.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage from that area at the time of this tragic event is encouraged to reach out to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at ontariocrimestoppers. ca.

Renfrew is located approximately 90 kilometers west of Ottawa and about 120 kilometers southwest of Val-des-Monts.
