Phyllis J. Franklin, age 69, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She was born on April 15, 1954 in Sullivan, Indiana to Warren and Norma Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Hawkins) Canada. Phyllis married her devoted husband of 48 years, Dale Franklin on October 18, 1975.
Phyllis dedicated her career to being a Children’s Librarian at both Margaret Cooper Library and Linton Public Library for over 35 years before retiring in 2014. She had a deep love for reading and enjoyed sharing that passion with children. Phyllis was honored to serve as a torch bearer for Greene County during the Indiana Bicentennial. She appreciated nature and loved vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains while especially enjoying time with her family.
Those who will hold onto the memories of Phyllis include: her husband, Dale Franklin; son, Wes (Halea) Franklin and daughter, Kimberly Franklin, both from Linton; grandchildren, Brooklyn Franklin, Wrigley Franklin, Kylie Blair, Brynley Franklin, Tyler Franklin and Keegan Blair; sister, Sharon Welch; brothers, Dale (Diane) Canada and Vence (Teresa) Canada. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pauline Crawl.
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Linton with her nephew Ryan Canada officiating. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Family and friends can visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 16 and from 9:00 AM until the service starts at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
