While they’re fierce competitors in the Ontario Hockey League, the Kitchener Rangers and London Knights are coming together to host pre-tournament games for the World Juniors.

Canada will take on Sweden right before the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship this December. The two teams will face off at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Dec. 17, and again on Dec. 20 at London’s Canada Life Place. The game starts at 7:00 p. m.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome two great hockey nations to the City of Kitchener,” Mayor Berry Vrbanovic said in the press release. “Hosting world-class talent in one of the most historic and iconic arenas in the Canadian Hockey League is a true honour for our community and we look forward to giving our fans a chance to witness the future stars of the game up close, while showcasing our great city.”

The junior team kicks off its road tour with a training camp in Niagara Falls from Dec. 12 to 22. The pre-tournament schedule wraps up on Dec. 23 against Denmark.

Individual tickets start at $40 and go on sale Oct. 31 at 11:00 a. m.

“The Aud has hosted many unforgettable games throughout its history, and the matchup between Canada and Sweden in December will be no exception,” Joe Birch, chief operating officer and governor of the Kitchener Rangers, said. “We cannot wait to show fans across the country and around the world the passion that our community has for hockey and ultimately help the two teams prepare to compete at the World Juniors.”

Canada finished third after a brutal 4-1 loss on New Year’s Eve at last year’s tournament in the nation’s capital. The team didn’t make it out of group play after Czechia stunned them.
