A man was discovered dead at a recycling center in Vaughan on Friday evening, according to York Regional Police (YRP).

Officers arrived around 10 p. m. Friday following reports of an injured individual at a recycling facility on Planchet Road, said Staff Sgt. Jay Hayes outside the scene early Saturday morning.

Police found a man deceased at the scene “among recycling debris,” stated YRP on social media.

Hayes mentioned that the man is not believed to have been an employee of the recycling center.

The Office of the Chief Coroner and YRP’s homicide and missing persons unit are involved in the case, according to Hayes.

He noted that the details surrounding the man’s death are still being looked into.

Residents nearby should expect a significant police presence as authorities process the scene, said Hayes.

If anyone has information, they are encouraged to contact police.
