JAHNS – Marilyn Marie (nee Mac Voy)
On October 10, 2025 after a short illness and surrounded by her loved ones.
Marilyn was the wife of the late Waldemar (Wally) Jahns (2023). She was a caring mother to Dr. Brian Jahns (Renee Bubel) and Stephen (Dr. Sheri Roszell). Proud Oma to Lauren, Alec, and Liam. Auntie Marilyn to many nieces and nephews.
She was a dear sister to Linda O’Neil (Gordon) and Laurie Pepper (Doug), as well as a beloved sister-in-law of Lilla (Jahns) Frei. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert (Bob) Charles Mac Voy (1999) and James (Jim) William Mac Voy (2010), along with brother-in-law Theodor Frei (2011), and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Arthur (2024) and Norma (2023) Jahns.
She was also predeceased by her parents, Charles Robert and Gladys Muriel Mac Voy, as well as in-laws August and Lilli Jahns.
A graduate of Walker Road Public School, Marilyn strongly supported post-secondary education and lifelong learning, believing they were essential for success. She excelled academically at Lowe Vocational High School, serving as valedictorian alongside Paul Martin Sr., QC-who later became an influential Canadian politician. It must have been quite awkward when she turned down an excellent job offer from Mr. Martin right after graduation since she had already accepted one from Richard Walker, QC.
Marilyn took pride in her work as a legal administrator and library manager, retiring from Miller Canfield LLP. Her skills in research, organization, and confident presentation often frustrated her two sons during their school years while also pushing them to master typing.
She felt proud watching former students pass the Bar exam, practice law, become mayors or judges, or even CEO’s of corporations.
Marilyn served as a Girl Guide Leader in the past, volunteered to help young students enhance their reading abilities, held various roles on Parent-School Committees, and played an active role in leadership within the Evangelical Lutheran Women (ELW) at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for over twenty years.
After losing her husband, Marilyn worked hard to maintain her independence in the home they built together with their fathers back in 1962. She was fortunate enough to have caring PSWs from St. Elizabeth’s Health who brought joy with their visits-Comfort, Taylor, Tia, Maddy, Charlotte-you all made such a positive impact on Marilyn’s life as well as her family’s lives. We are grateful for our extended family-a circle of longtime neighbors and friends including Pat, Michaela, Harry & Mary; Maria; Luigia; Pat; Henry; Joyce-your friendship meant so much to Marilyn.
Donations may be made in memory of Marilyn to Hospice Windsor or Autism Ontario (Windsor Essex).
Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Central Chapel 1700 Tecumseh Road East, Windsor) on Tuesday October 14 from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. A chapel service will occur at the funeral home on Wednesday October 15 at 10:30 AM followed by interment at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
