In recent years, Christmas markets across Ontario have become quite popular, with nearly every city and small town hosting some kind of holiday celebration.

Many traditional Christmas markets in Ontario share similar features: local vendors showcasing handmade goods (often from charming wooden stalls), tasty food and drinks (like mulled wine), festive music, and much more.

I’ve put together a list of the best Christmas markets in Ontario from all over the province. Whether you’re in Toronto, Niagara Falls, Windsor, or Ottawa, these spots are perfect for celebrating the holiday season.

Several of these towns are fantastic places to visit during Christmas. While it’s great to explore the markets close to home, some are definitely worth taking a weekend road trip to enjoy.

Distillery Winter Village in Toronto

Where: Distillery District, Toronto When: November 13th – January 4th, 2026 (Closed on Christmas Day) Admission: Free, except Thu-Sun after 4pm and Dec 11-31st ($15)Distillery Winter VillageDistillery Winter Village

Although Christmas markets started in Germany, the first one I ever visited was at the Toronto Christmas Market held annually at the historic Distillery District.

The cobblestone streets make this pedestrian area an ideal setting for a holiday market. If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate Christmas in Toronto, you’ll want to put this market high on your list of events.

The event has now been rebranded as the Distillery Winter Village. It features winter displays, live music, outdoor shopping booths, food vendors, plus all your favorite shops and restaurants within the Distillery area.

As one of Toronto’s busiest holiday events, expect large crowds on Friday nights and weekends. If possible, I suggest visiting during a weekday instead. There are also free admission days on select weekdays!

On Thursdays through Sundays after 4pm (and closer to December), you’ll need to purchase timed tickets online ahead of time. Make sure you arrive during your designated slot; however, you can stay as long as you’d like once you’re inside.

St. Lawrence Winter Market (Toronto)

Where: Market Street, St. Lawrence Market When: November 20th – December 22nd (Thursday to Sunday) Admission: Free

The St. Lawrence Winter Market is back for its second year at this iconic location! This outdoor event offers festive shopping experiences filled with delicious food and drink along with entertaining performances.

You can find their complete entertainment schedule online. On Saturdays and Sundays there will be complimentary holiday photos with Santa available! They also host a Weekend Holiday Vendor Market featuring around 75 artisans and vintage sellers.

This market pairs perfectly with a visit to Distillery Winter Village or could serve as an excellent alternative if you’d prefer something less crowded than what you’ll find at Distillery District.

Festival of Trees, Mississauga

Where: Small Arms Inspection Building, Mississauga When: December 5th – 14th, 2025 (closed December 8th) Admission: Pay what you canFestival of Trees Mississauga

The Festival of Trees returns this year! This multi-day winter celebration takes place at Small Arms Inspection Building located near Dixie & Lakeshore.

Over about ten days throughout December , visitors can shop artisan products while enjoying live entertainment throughout their experience here.

Alongside vendor booths , attendees will encounter beautiful lighting displays along with art installations made from trees & woodpile sculptures that convey unique messages behind them.

There will also be workshops available along nature walks associated with festival happenings. This year’s dates run from December fifth through fourteenth , although it closes temporarily on eighth day.
