Whitby Animal Services is reaching out to the community for assistance after nine puppies were left near Mary Street and Garden Street on January 13 – this marks the fourth litter found in that area within the last year.

According to the Whitby Animal Services Centre, all of the puppies seem to be related.

The puppies have been checked by the Animal Services vet and have enjoyed a warm bath, along with plenty of affection from the Whitby team over the past day. “Their bellies are full, with their eyes wide open, looking for a foster family to love!”

The post by Whitby Animal Services on Facebook received almost 100 responses from locals, and the town is seeking any information about these puppies or their parents. The post highlighted that spaying and neutering pets is essential in stopping unwanted animals from being abandoned.

If you’re interested in fostering any of these puppies until they’re ready for adoption, please send a direct message to the Whitby Animal Services Centre.

The centre is also requesting donations of pee pads, chew toys, blankets, or bandage wraps to assist with the care and recovery of these puppies.

“Nine puppies = 1,000 pee pads, 3,058 broken (but well-loved) chew toys, and a lot of vet wrap changes.”

You can drop off donations at the shelter Monday through Friday from 8 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. Alternatively, you can contribute through an Amazon wish list here: https://www. amazon. ca/hz/wishlist/ls/1V50W31SJKA6G…

“Thank you to our wonderful staff for ensuring these babies are safe and well cared for. We have an amazing team, which includes you – the warriors in the background and our fosters that we can’t live without. Together, we are making a difference!”
