Campus Closed for Snowy Conditions

Campus Closed for Snowy Conditions
University Closed Due to Winter Weather

Due to worsening winter weather, the University of Guelph main campus will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 15.

Students, faculty, and staff currently on campus should be careful while leaving.

All campus events are canceled for the rest of today. Please contact event organizers directly if you have questions about rescheduling or changing the event.

All classes and labs (both in-person and remote) are canceled effective immediately for today. When the University reopens, instructors will provide details about rescheduled tests and assignments.

Impact on Campus 

Only employees classified as essential workers under the Inclement Weather/Emergency Closing policy are required to report to work on-site.

Employees who aren’t essential workers should – if possible – continue working remotely or switch to that option. Check with your manager or supervisor regarding expectations during today’s closure.

All University buildings, labs, and facilities are closed except for emergency services (Campus Safety Office and Fire Safety).

This closure includes: 

Library  University Centre  All athletics and recreation facilities U of G will keep an eye on conditions and may reopen fitness and recreation facilities later today. Please check the Fitness and Recreation website for updates and additional information. Ontario Veterinary College clinics (emergency service remains available)  Health and Performance Centre. Clients with appointments will be contacted to reschedule.  Student Support Network All other campus buildings and labs

Open for service: 

Residence service desks including: East (located in Dundas Hall)  North (located in Lennox/Addington Hall)  South (located in Prairie Hall) West Desk (located at 78 College #132)  Gordon Desk (located in Gordon Hall)  Residence dining halls including: Creelman Hall Cafe 785 at Gordon Hall East Cafe & Grocery   LA Dining Hall   Mountain Hall Residence   Prairie Hall Residence   Health services – Student Wellness Services – J. T. Powell Building Health Services (physician and nursing appointments) remain open. Students with appointments will only be contacted to inform them of any changes to their appointments (a shift to virtual or options for rescheduling). Health Services Drop-in Clinic/Same Day in-person appointments will still be available unless stated otherwise. Appointments with Student Accessibility Services and Counselling Services will be conducted virtually.

We’ll announce when the University reopens through these channels:

Students, faculty, and staff at the Ridgetown campus and at the University of Guelph-Humber should check their respective websites for updates.
