Expect 5 to 10 cm of accumulation today, heavy at times.

Environment Canada has put out a Special Weather Statement for eastern Ontario, alerting residents about a wintry mix today.

Snow and ice pellets totaling 2 to 5 cm are expected, with the possibility of freezing rain in the morning and continuing into early afternoon.

Drivers and walkers should be cautious, as roads and sidewalks may become slick and dangerous. This mix could disrupt the morning commute, leading to tough travel conditions in some areas.

Environment Canada advises allowing extra time for travel, slowing down, and wearing suitable footwear when on icy surfaces.

Stay tuned for updates on changing weather conditions.
